Dev Tracker Summary: February 20th, 2012 – February 27th, 2012

Hello, and welcome to this week’s Dev Tracker blog. Each week, we’re going to be collecting the most important developer responses that show up in our Dev Tracker and collating them into this digest.

Be sure to also check out the News and Community Blog sections of our website for all of the latest updates!

Principal Lead Combat Designer Georg Zoeller was busy on our forums, as usual. He answered several questions and clarified a few things. Among them:

He confirmed seeing an increase in Open World PvP on many servers, teased that there will be an update to Synthweaving in Game Update 1.2, and mentioned that we will have an update in regards to combat logs at the Guild Summit.

He let people know that the dev team is working on options for changing their Legacy names, but that nothing has been finalized yet.

He took some time to explain the differences between Crouch and Take Cover and recommended the following:

For PvP specifically, where you need precise control of your character, I really recommend using Crouch (default: shift-f) over Take Cover. There's definitely cases where Take Cover is very useful (you can bridge large distances by rolling into cover), but when faced with fast moving enemies that know how to play line of sight or obstacles like The Pit's fires, you're better off and faster using Crouch.

Zipping over to the PTS forum, Georg assuaged some fears about the Artifice Crafting Skill in the 1.1.5 Patch Notes.

Finally, Georg gave a less than cryptic response as to whether or not the Collector’s Edition vendor will be updated with more items. Short answer? Yes.

Associate Online Community Manager Joveth Gonzalez cleared up some confusion in regards to how ties in Voidstar are determined. He also posted a message clarifying the meaning behind a recent billing summary email:

The summary and confirmation email that players have received (or will receive) is a delayed email that should have been sent on the original date of the transaction. The date for the actual transaction can be found in the first sentence of the email that was sent out. In other words, this is not a new charge. Rest assured that if you have cancelled your subscription since the date featured in the email, you are NOT being re-subscribed.

Additionally, he posted threads in General Discussion for Friday’s Q&A discussion and the next Q&A.

Sr. Community Coordinator Allison Berryman jumped into the forums to let people know that a fix for the holodancer was coming soon.

Live Community Coordinator Amber Green posted an important message regarding changes to the PTS Forum, as well as a useful guide on how to post in there. Finally, she posted 1.1.5 Patch Notes on the PTS forum.

And last but not least, Assistant Community Production Coordinator Courtney Woods posted a thread in General Discussion letting people know about our latest video: A Look at the Old Republic. She also posted a thread in the forums about tomorrow’s maintenance.
